Bernard was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022, who signed with Michigan State out of Nevada. He played sparingly as a freshman, catching seven passes for 128 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Following the season he transferred to Washington. In one season with the Huskies, he hauled in 34 passes for 419 yards and two touchdowns. He followed head coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama the next season.
For the 2024 season, Bernard had 50 catches for 794 yards and two touchdowns. His play helped Alabama win nine games. In 2025, he registered 64 receptions for 862 yards and seven touchdowns. He led the Crimson Tide to an 11-win season and a victory in the CFP.
