The Deadlock community has officially entered that familiar post-update phase: curiosity, speculation, and one big question — what’s next?

After the massive Old Gods New Blood update, things have understandably slowed down. But that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Between quiet developer replies, matchmaking fixes, balance updates, and some intriguing leaks, there are clear signs that Deadlock is still moving forward behind the scenes.

Matchmaking Fixes Are In The Works

One of the biggest pain points in Deadlock right now has been matchmaking — particularly new accounts getting placed far too high in ELO.

On February 24th, Yoshi responded in the official Deadlock Discord, confirming that matchmaking fixes related to new accounts have been implemented. The message was brief, but meaningful. Recently, players with as few as 10–20 games played were being placed into high ranks like Phantom, causing obvious imbalance issues.

This is a clear acknowledgment from the developers that matchmaking integrity matters, especially as the player base grows. While we don’t yet know how effective the fixes are long-term, it’s a positive sign that the issue is actively being addressed.
